The Future

Danbury Mission - another extension!

Although we completed our last extension only 3-4 years ago, we have been looking at the feasibility of a further extension to accommodate the growing numbers attending our Services, and in particular the popular Sunday Morning Service which is typically attended by over 250 people!

We asked our existing Architects to look at the most cost effective way of extending the capacity of the Main Hall and they have produced a draft plan for our consideration. We need to be able to comfortably accommodate 350 people in the main hall now and possibly more in the future, provide a larger reception/welcoming area with coffee shop, and a much needed upgrade to classrooms and toilets in the old part of the building.

The present position is that we have appointed new Architects who have produced a design in line with our brief. Plans are currently being prepared and an update showing the latest plans was presented at the Church Meeting on 1st July 2010. It is anticipated that the planning application will be submitted in August 2010.

The whole project should take approx 2 years to complete. Subject to planning permission, we are hopeful that building work will commence early 2011 and be completed by Christmas 2011. During that time our Sunday Services will be held at Sandon School; we are hopeful that our weekday activities will be able to continue in the community annex at the rear of the church. Look out for more info nearer the time!
