TIM GREEN

Tim has been married to Sylvia for 42 years and they have 2 married children and 3 grand children. He was brought up in a very committed Christian home and received a wonderful grounding in the Christian faith and Christian living.

Tim was in banking for 44 years before retiring in January 2003. Most of his time was with NatWest although in 1988 he co-ordinated the launch of the Switch Debit Card Scheme. A new Company was formed and Tim was the CEO until in 2002 when, on behalf of the member banks, Tim negotiated its sale to MasterCard – it is now known as Maestro.

Tim has been involved with a number of Christian Charities including Stewardship where he was chairman until early 2009. He was deputy chairman of John Grooms which has now merged with The Shaftesbury Society to form Livability. He is a trustee of Eurasian Ministries based in Danbury. For some years he was chairman of Credit Action. When working in the City of London he was a Church Warden at St, Margaret’s in Lothbury.

Tim and Sylvia arrived in Danbury in January 1979 and have been in fellowship at the Mission for the past 30 years with the exception of a 2 year spell in Singapore. In 1984 Tim was asked to become an elder at the Mission – a position he holds to this day. Since retirement he has taken on the roles of church secretary and treasurer. He also leads a Home Group and the Care & Support Group.

He genuinely was brought up in Manchester and for 60 years has supported Man United – but this does not make him a bad person!
